Creation Myth on a Moebius Band by Howard Nemerov
This world’s just mad enough to have been made
By the Being His beings into Being prayed.
This poet frequently used mathematics in his poems. Here is a link to previous Nemerov postings in this blog.
Thanks for getting me reading Nemerov. Adam and Eve in Later Life is amazing. Is Minim his own term? I can't find rules for it anywhere.
ReplyDeleteAlso Figures of Thought... https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poetrymagazine/browse?contentId=33168 for another amazing math poem.
DeleteMy own speculation is that the term MINIM is Nemerov's invention -- but I have not researched the term.
Delete"Figures of Thought" by Nemerov is also part of an anthology of math poems -- "Strange Attractors: Poems of Love and Mathematics" -- and available at Amazon and lots of other booksellers.
Deleteon my wishlist. I definitely should have noticed this before.
