Now winter nights enlarge
    The number of their hours;
And clouds their storms discharge
    Upon the airy towers.

A Square for the Season

          Now,  near the Solstice,
          we turn on  bright lights
          and  give gifts.  Oh, Sun,
          please shorten our nights
          with  your  quick  return.
