Welcome DIVERSITY in mathematics

As February on the calendar brings BLACK HISTORY month and March brings WOMEN'S HISTORY month, I invite you to explore the contributions of diverse groups to mathematics.  In this blog, I celebrate links between a rainbow of math-people and poetry -- for example, in this posting, "Mathematicians are not just white dudes, (which includes links to math-poetry by Benjamin Banneker and Scott Williams).

  1. I've just published a biography for middle schoolers of African-American mathematician David Blackwell. It's at my publisher's website: https://www.rfwp.com/series/mathematical-lives-biographical-novels-by-robert-black. And since Women's History Month is next month, I'll mention that the series also contains a biography of Florence Nightingale, focusing on her contribution to Statistics.
